Bear is waiting for you at San Jose Animal Care Center in San Jose, CA 95111. 04/08/26Meet one of our longest stay dog: Bear!This goofball has been at the shelter since early September 2024 and he has been waiting patiently for his new family. Bear is a little shy around new people, but once he opens up he's a great companion. He LOVES to go on walks here at the shelter and when he walks off-site he has been known to have impeccable leash manners. Bear can be reactive to other dogs so a home where he is your only pet would be best. He doesn't seem to be as reactive with calm dogs so if your friends have pets please introduce them slowly. Bear doesn't seem to have prey drive either, so he is the only walking companion you'll ever need!Bear has been here for a very long time and he just wants a chance for a life outside of the shelter. He has a lot of kennel stress from being here for so long. Although, he has shown improvement and has some good days. Bear has also been known to have reactivity when being restrained for medical procedures. He needs someone who will understand this and help him navigate situations where handling and restraint is necessary.So what do you say, will you give Bear the chance he's been waiting for?02/21/26 16:04 MHBear experienced some mild complications post neuter and is recovering with the help of our medical team.
