Meet Beau — A One Year Old Belgian Malinois Who Needs a Safe, Healing Foster HomeBeau is a young Belgian Malinois who has survived more than any dog should ever have to. While tied to a post in a Texas park, he was brutally attacked another dog(s) and left with severe injuries across his entire body. His most serious wound—a deep, extensive injury to his front left shoulder—required months of painful treatments, constant bandage changes, and ultimately surgery to repair.Despite everything he has endured, Beau’s spirit is still shining through.He is now almost fully healed physically, but he still has one month left of restricted activity while he completes heartworm treatment. Because of the combination of his injuries and heartworm, Beau has spent months on strict crate rest with only short periods of passive exercise. This has understandably left him frustrated and in need of more enrichment and support than his current foster, who works fulltime, can provide.Beau is also reactive to other dogs right now—an understandable response given his trauma. He will need a calm environment and a slow, extended decompression period before he can safely be introduced to other dogs again.Who Beau Is at HeartEven after everything he’s been through, Beau is affectionate, peopleoriented, and eager for connection. He loves interaction, enjoys gentle attention, and is known to give big “bear hugs” when he feels safe. He has recently discovered how much fun searchandfind games can be, and he lights up when he gets to use his brain or go on quiet walks.What Beau NeedsWe are looking for a foster who can offer Beau: A calm, quiet home where he can continue healing Someone with breed experience, or experience supporting a sensitive dog recovering from trauma Patience and understanding as he decompresses and rebuilds trust Ideally no other dogs, or the ability to keep him fully separated
