Cookie Policy (Web Only)

Last updated: July 31, 2026

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on AdoptAnimaux.fr and AdoptAnimaux.com, and the choices available to you.

Important note: The mobile app (iOS/Android) you download from the stores does not use traditional web cookies, but encrypted security tokens to keep your session securely open. The app integrates analytics SDKs (Firebase Analytics, Facebook App Events) whose collection is subject to your explicit consent via a dedicated banner in the app. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

1. What is a cookie?

It's a tiny, harmless text file placed in your browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) by a website. It acts as a short-term 'memory' for the site to make your browsing easier.

2. What are our cookies used for?

We limit trackers to necessary, measurement, and service-funding purposes:

  • Essential Cookies (Required): They simply remember if you closed the consent banner and maintain the site's security infrastructure. The site technically cannot function without them.
  • Measurement Cookies (Analytics): With your permission where required, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Ahrefs help us understand site usage and performance.
  • Functional Cookies: To remember your browsing preferences from one visit to the next.
  • Advertising (Google AdSense): AdSense helps fund the service. Depending on your choices, Google may show personalized, non-personalized, or limited ads. Limited ads do not use your data for personalization, although technical data may still be necessary for delivery, security, and fraud prevention.

In the EEA, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, our Google consent management platform certified for IAB TCF v2.3 lets you consent, refuse, or manage each purpose. Refusing is as easy as accepting.

3. Lifespan

Retention varies by purpose and provider. We retain your consent or refusal choice for six months, in line with the CNIL's recommended good practice, unless we need to ask again sooner.

Google and the measurement providers listed below may set or read third-party cookies and similar identifiers according to your consent choice.

4. Third-party providers

We use Google Analytics and Google AdSense, together with Microsoft Clarity and Ahrefs for audience measurement. In Europe, external measurement tools load only after the appropriate consent signal.

Read Google's explanation of how it uses data on partner sites and its Privacy Policy.

The detailed list of advertising partners and purposes is always available through “Privacy and cookie settings” in the footer.

5. Manage your preferences

You can review, change, or withdraw your consent at any time:

  • From this page: use the “Open privacy settings” button above to display the official consent platform and adjust each purpose.
  • From your browser: Safari, Chrome, and Firefox also let you review, delete, or block cookies. Deleting essential cookies may sign you out or reset certain preferences.

6. Updates

We will update this page if providers, purposes, or consent methods change.
