He's not sure about his new surroundings, but opens up with chin rubs and neck scritches. He values attention more than he does treats. A bit of catnip is always welcome as well. Being brushed isn't so bad either, but he's still getting used to being pampered. He's a quiet boy who doesn't like to bring attention to himself. Tolkien would probably do best in a home without too much activity. He's open to having a cat friend, but is ok being your one and only as long as you agree to spoil him as he deserves.
