Charles is waiting for you at Animal Rescue League of Boston - Pine Ridge Animal Shelter in Dedham, MA 02026. MEET CHARLES! What a face on this boy! We don't much about his history because he was found outside and brought in by our Field Services Team as part of our Trap/Neuter/Return program; we call these felines Community Cats. When he showed signs of being social, we put him on a pathway for adoption. Charles has made a great deal of progress in his socialization since he moved into a larger space in our meet and greet room; if you sit and allow him to approach, he'll circle for a while and will eventually solicit a few pets. Charles is a big guy who needs an experienced cat owner, but he loves to play and chase wand toys. He has made such great strides since he came to us.... can you keep his progress going?!The key to making cats like Charles comfortable in your home is patience. Community Cats usually follow the Rule of 3: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to start settling in, and 3 months to feel at home and show their personality. Here are a few things you can expect from your Community Cat: *Hiding: for the best transition, we highly recommend confining your new cat to a room in an active part of the home where they can learn about their new surroundings but still feel secure. A small space such as a guest room or extra bathroom are good safe places. *a slow transition: After living outside, being in a home can be scary to a Community Cat, so remember to be patient. At the very least, expect the cat to be eating and using the litter box. *Hands-on work: Most cats love food and using stinky wet food and Churu treats is a great way for you to bond with your new cat. Using a back scratcher to pet your cat while you're giving them tasty food will help them to associate petting with good things.Charles is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team.For more information on this or any other animal
