She started out almost ravaged and always on the defensive. With time and her spay surgery, she has settled in. She now knows that food is always available to her and love is unconditional. Having come from what sounds like a hoarding situation, she has also learned that her litter boxes are always clean and ready for her here and adaptable to her needs (she stands when she urinates instead of squatting, so a high sided litter box works great for her). Alvie cohabitated with my resident cats at first, but she has made it clear the longer she's here that she prefers her own space away from other cats. Alvie loves toys, especially springs and plastic rings that she can bat around and pounce on. She also carries catnip mice around in her mouth calling to me to check out her daily catch.
