Gumbo has experienced some recent loss, and building trust with him will take time. He may hiss or retreat if approached too quickly, but someone who understands how to move slowly, read his signals, and let him initiate will be rewarded in a big way when he transforms into a devoted cuddle companion — flopping onto his back for gentle petting and seeking out closeness again and again.
