Countless shoppers came to know this sweet boy, stopping to pet him or check on him during their visits. While Bernie had a dedicated guardian who cared for him, many people were deeply concerned about the dangers of living in such a busy parking lot. After much thought, his guardian agreed that it was finally time to give Bernie the chance at a safer life and a forever home. Bernie is a gentle, kind-hearted cat, but he can be shy and timid when faced with new surroundings. He’ll need a patient family willing to let him adjust at his own pace and build trust in his new environment. Because he spent so much of his life outdoors, we’re not yet sure how he will adapt to being a strictly indoor cat. With understanding, time, and love, Bernie has every opportunity to discover that indoor life can be safe and comfortable. This beloved parking-lot ambassador has already won the hearts of an entire community. Now he’s looking for one special family to give him the happy ending he deserves.
