She will likely hiss, and she may swat when she's feeling overwhelmed. These behaviors aren't because she's mean—they're simply her way of saying she's scared and trying to protect herself. She needs someone who will respect her boundaries and allow her to move at her own pace.The beautiful thing about Athos is that, with time and consistency, she begins to realize she's safe. Once that happens, you'll get to see the sweet, loving girl hiding behind all that fear. She learns to enjoy being held, welcomes gentle pets, and absolutely loves to play. She also has plenty to say and is quite the chatty girl once she's comfortable!Athos will thrive with an adopter who understands that healing takes time. She isn't looking for perfection—just someone willing to be patient, celebrate the small victories, and let her build trust at her own pace. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them
