Bootsie is waiting for you at Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter in Santa Cruz, CA 95062. Meet Bootsie, the 3-year-old black kitty with the cutest white boots! He came into the shelter with his bonded buddy Pepper when their previous owner could no longer care for them. Their previous owner described them as affectionate and independent. They would groom and play with each other. In the shelter, these kitties have been a little more timid and shy with our volunteers and staff. They will need an adopter who can let them have time to decompress and get to know their new home so their personalities can blossom! If you are looking for two beautiful black cats, these boys could be for you. Bootsie and Pepper have a two-for-one adoption fee that has been reduced by $20 thanks to the Bogey Fund! They aim to bring attention to often overlooked black cats in shelters. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them
