At about 7½ years old and 20–25 pounds, this little guy has already lived a lifetime of ups and downs. He was found abandoned and spent time on a county stray hold, where he was labeled “not a very nice dog.” But one caring person looked past the surface and saw something special in Joey — a dog who simply needed patience, understanding, and a safe place to land. That act of kindness brought Joey into Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, where he got a fresh start. He was adopted and loved for about a year, but the match wasn’t quite right. Joey has some strong feelings about his personal space and possessions — he guards what matters to him and can get defensive if he feels cornered or pressured. Because of that, he now has a bite history and needs an experienced, confident adopter who understands canine behavior, knows how to set and maintain clear boundaries, and will respect his need for space. In the right environment, Joey can truly shine. He’s happiest in a quiet, one-person home where things are calm, consistent, and predictable. He’s indifferent toward other dogs and doesn’t need to be the center of attention — he’s content just sharing space with someone who gets him.
