While he is now safe, loved, and cared for, the effects of his past have understandably left him cautious about new people, new places, and new experiences. Hermie isn't the kind of dog who will run up to greet strangers or instantly jump into your lap. He's the kind of dog who watches quietly from a distance, taking everything in and deciding when he's ready. And that's okay.
