Grits is waiting for you at Worthy Dog Rescue in Arlington, VA 22204. Meet Grits! This handsome snow-white boy is as sweet as they come! Grits, an 8–9-month-old pittie mix, was found wandering near a grocery store in Rock Hill, SC. Thankfully, one of our volunteers stepped up to take him in, and before long, he was safe, vetted, and on his way to a foster home. While waiting for a foster, Grits boarded for a few weeks and quickly became a staff favorite. He loved his daily playgroups with other dogs and showed everyone what a happy, social pup he is. Now settling into foster care with two resident dogs, Grits has been soaking up new experiences. His foster family has taken him on daily walks, to pet-friendly stores, and even to a local nature preserve, where he's met lots of people and children and enjoys new experiences. Everywhere he goes, he's curious, friendly, and eager to explore. Grits has a medium energy level and a wonderful balance of playful puppy energy and an easygoing personality. He's not a Velcro dog who needs to be glued to your side. Instead, he’s confident, enjoys exploring the yard, sniffing every interesting scent, and then happily circling back for pets or settling beside you. He loves his daily walks and, while he may start out excited, he settles in quickly. With regular practice, his leash manners continue to improve every day. He's doing great with his training and is already potty trained and crate trained, sleeping quietly through the night without accidents. He willingly goes into his crate when his foster family is away and is learning basic commands like "sit," "wait," and "off." He's food-motivated, learns quickly, and genuinely enjoys working with his people. His favorite game is chasing tennis balls, and he's currently mastering "bring it" and "drop it." Grits is a very social dog who enjoys the company of other dogs and has participated in large playgroups, where he played appropriately and had a blast. He's also gentle with
