Lucy is waiting for you at Worthy Dog Rescue in Arlington, VA 22204. Meet Lucy. Our team first learned about Lucy after seeing a social media post from her owners looking for a pen to keep her contained outside. At the time, she was spending much of her day tied to the front porch of a small home already shared with five other dogs, a new puppy, and several cats. As Lucy entered her senior years, she had become an afterthought. One of our awesome beagle-loving foster moms reached out to the family, offering support and expressing her interest in giving Lucy a new home. Thankfully, Lucy's owners realized she deserved more and opted to surrender her. That decision changed Lucy's life. Since arriving in foster care, Lucy has been an absolute joy. She settled into her foster home with ease and has proven to be one of those dogs who simply fits in wherever she goes. She gets along well with other dogs, has lived peacefully with cats, and is wonderful with her foster family's toddler. Confident, friendly, and affectionate, Lucy greets new people with enthusiasm and is always ready to make a new friend. Lucy has excellent house manners. She's house-trained, lets you know when she needs to go outside, sleeps through the night, and is comfortable in a crate when needed, though she'd much rather curl up on a cozy dog bed, or beside her favorite person. She also enjoys neighborhood walks, has good leash manners, and loves exploring the yard. While she's carrying a little extra weight, that doesn't stop her from celebrating mealtime with adorable post-dinner zoomies before settling in for a well-earned nap. More than anything, Lucy just wants to be loved. She adores belly rubs, back scratches, and being close to her people. She's happy, easygoing, and has quickly become a favorite in her foster home.
