Meet Parker, a happy-go-lucky Pocket Pyr mix with more energy than he knows what to do with, and a smile that will win you over instantly! Parker's nickname is "Squirrel," and once you meet him, you'll understand exactly why. He was found as a stray from Tennessee who was taken to a shelter where he ended up on the red list, but thankfully NGPR was able to get him out just in time, and now he is ready to find the loving home he deserves. Parker is housebroken and crate trained, and high-energy through and through. He dances, spins, hops, and just cannot sit still, he is simply too happy to slow down. His foster dad describes him best: "Think Doug, from the movie ‘Up’… except, he's the squirrel." Parker has never met a stranger, not once, ever, and he absolutely loves other dogs and is curious and gentle around cats too, though his high energy means he'd do best with feline friends who don't mind a bouncy companion. He would absolutely thrive in a home with busy, outdoorsy kids who can keep up with his zest for life. Parker likes just about everything (except thunderstorms), and he cannot decide whether he prefers being inside or outside, so he'll gladly play with you anywhere! He doesn't dig, but he does love to bark, just for fun, when he's bored, or honestly whenever he feels like it. Peanut butter is his favorite treat, and it makes an excellent training reward for this bouncy boy. Parker has some special care needs: at some point in his life he experienced trauma to his skin that has left him unable to grow fur in several areas, so he will need sunblock for protection during long stretches outside. His ideal home is with an active family who has at least one other dog for him to play with, and a 5-foot fenced yard for lots of fun!
