Squishy is waiting for you at Dog Star Rescue in Canton, CT 06019. Squishy comes with the perfect name. She is a very affectionate and cuddly puppy. She loves to snuggle with her caretakers whenever she is picked her up. At just over 4 months old, she weighs 18 pounds and is expected to be in the medium range (30 to 60 pounds) when fully grown.Squishy is a terrier mix with brindle and white short coat. Terrier mixes are known to be smart, loving, and confident. They can be very active and like to run around to burn off energy. Add to that the traits of playfulness and good-naturedness and you have an appealing mix. She enjoys the company of other dogs during play time and also is good with children. It is unknown if she has lived with cats. Puppies have lots of potential, and since she is smart and friendly, she can grow to be a wonderful companion in the right home. She will need an owner who has had experience and/or knowledge working with puppies. Using the right guidance with consistency and patience, will help her with the skills she needs to master. Cheerful praise and lots of treats will go a long way in helping Squishy master those skills. She is currently working on her house, crate and leash training skills. Squishy will probably be a quick learner once routines are established. Daily short walks (under thirty minutes) will be a good opportunity to work on leash skills as well as socialization skills. It will be a new world to her with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along her walk. Please note: She may not be a running companion until at least age one when her growth plate closes.Squishy will also appreciate free time in the back yard. Keeping her mind active with activities that provide physical and mental stimulation will prevent boredom.
