Peewee** is waiting for you at Orange County Animal Services in Chapel Hill, NC 27516. Hello! I came as a transfer from another shelter. I walk a little funny, likely due to some arthritis but it does not appear to slow me down! My friends report that I am good with other dogs and people too! Like many dogs in NC, I am currently heartworm positive, but don't worry - OCAS is treating me and they can tell you more about that if you are interested in me.In North Carolina, it's unfortunately common to see many dogs that are infected with heartworms (they are transmitted by mosquito bites). Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage in dogs. It's usually fatal if left untreated. Heartworm treatment is costly. He enjoyed stopping midway for belly rubs. He’s a great car companion and loved his hike.``Peewee is the sweetest dog I have ever met!! He was so gentle and kind. As soon as he gave me that big happy grin at the shelter I knew I had to take him with me for the day! He loves treats, taking in all the sniffs outdoors, playing with the tennis ball, and curling up with you to take a nap. He loved meeting new people and getting belly rubs. He is also very smart. He knows how to sit and speak to get a treat. He is curious and wants to be wherever you are. If I went to another room or simply moved off the couch his ears would perk up and he would immediately follow. He loves attention and love and he is so easy and enjoyable to be around!
