I used to know what my world sounded like. I used to know where I belonged. Now everything feels loud and uncertain, and I’m still trying to understand how I got here after my person left me behind. I’m not unfriendly! I’m just careful. I’ve learned that things can change without warning, so I take my time deciding who to trust. If you let me come to you instead of rushing me, you might notice something shift. My body softens. My eyes lift. I might even lean in, just a little. I remember what it feels like to be safe. It’s still in me, even if it’s buried under all this confusion. I’m not broken. I’m just waiting for someone who understands that I need a moment to open up. But when I do, I promise there’s a gentle, loyal dog underneath all this uncertainty, ready to belong again.
