Sunny is waiting for you at Critter Cavalry Rescue in Franklin, TN 37069. Sunny Needs a Hero This young 1 year old, 30 pounds Terrier mix boy has been through a super tough first year that reads like one of those rescue stories that breaks your heart. Sunny’s is definitely one of those. This sweet boy was abandoned in the middle of nowhere with his family of dogs, left to fend for themselves against the elements, starvation, and predators. Tragically, Sunny was the only survivor. By the time rescuers with Critter Cavalry found him, he was terrified and had to be trapped just to bring him to safety. We don’t know where he came from, but we know what life had been like for him—at best, he was neglected, and at worst, he suffered cruelty. Love, comfort, and security were things he had never known but he does now and he thriving and getting more at ease every day. He has come so far! The Journey to Trust In his foster home, after much patience and gentle care, Sunny began to trust. At first, he kept his distance, but with space, understanding, and (most importantly) lots and lots of treats, he started to come out of his shell. He found comfort in the other dogs and even the cats in his home, but learning to love people took longer. Over time, he discovered that belly rubs were amazing, snuggling was safe, and that going outside to potty and coming back when called was something he could do without fear. Sunny had been nervous with men but now with a slow approach he is accepting their kindness and petting. He loves being with the cats especially in the foster home and will sleep with them. We love that!!! He looks up to other older dogs and follows their confident actions as we had hoped he would. All Sunny needs is a HERO to give him love and a stable forever home.
