Gherkin is waiting for you at Underdog Rescue MN in Minneapolis, MN 55416. Gherkin is a lovable Bulldog with a sweet, goofy personality and a heart full of love for his people. Once he feels safe and comfortable, he’s incredibly affectionate and happiest snuggled up close with his family. He especially loves kids and would be thrilled to have a home where he can soak up attention, cuddles, and plenty of couch time. Like many sensitive dogs, Gherkin can take a little time to trust new people, especially men, but patience and kindness go a long way with him. Once you earn his trust, you’ll discover a playful, loyal companion who loves being part of the fun. Gherkin is a big fan of toys, chewing sessions, and fetch, and he is highly food motivated — if snacks are involved, he’s interested. He’s intelligent, eager to please, and knows commands including sit, come, quiet, go potty, and leave it. He also rides well in the car, making him an easy companion for adventures or errands. He is leash trained and crate trained, though he may need a little time to fully settle and relax in his crate while he continues building confidence with it. Gherkin also has allergies that are managed with a special diet, and he is sight impaired after having one eye removed, but he navigates life beautifully and doesn’t let it slow him down. One thing that makes Gherkin especially happy is having canine companionship. He absolutely requires another dog in his home and thrives with dog friends of all sizes. He plays wonderfully with both the resident bully breed and a 150-pound Bernese Mountain Dog in his foster home and has done great with all dog-friendly dogs he’s met. Gherkin is the kind of dog who will make you laugh, steal your spot on the couch, and completely win you over with his squishy face and loving personality.
