Henry is waiting for you at Barking Dog Farm Rescue in Newport, NH 03773. Henry is a handsome 2 year old neutered male great pyrenees who weighs about 80 pounds. He is a big lovable guy who loves to lean in for love or jump up for a hug. He is housebroken and walks ok on leash, loves to go on walks and hikes. He loves being with people and does well with other dogs. He would do best with someone home alot. Henry can resource guard which is typical of the breed especially when in a new environment and easily manage by feeding him in his crate, don't leave food or high value items within his reach on table or counter. Therefore we will only place home in an adult home that has experience with the breed and willing to work with a trainer. Henry has alot of love to give and deserves to have a family of his own. They can be stubborn, prone to barking, overly protective and cannot be off leash. You WILL NOT train a pyr to boundaries. Please be sure all family members are in agreement to adopting and your family is ready to bring dog home now. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. We do not have blanket criteria regarding adoptions. Each applicant is considered based on many things including but not limited to breed experience, yard ( visible fence preferred) and other animals in home. We try to avoid dogs with same sex households as pyrs typically do not do well with the same sex. A volunteer will be in touch to discuss your application and the dog to determine if it is a good match. Your vet and two references will be called. A virtual home visit done.
