About Kobe (Berger allemand) in North KC

Kobe is waiting for you at Missouri German Shepherd Rescue in North KC, MO 64116. KOBE transferred to MOGS from Maple Woods Vet Tech Program after they pulled him from a local shelter Kobe is the ultimate “love life” kind of dog — happy, friendly, and always ready to make new friends (human or canine!). He’s a total sweetheart who just wants to be your best buddy, soak up all the pets, and be part of the fun. If you ask Kobe what his favorite part of the day is, he’d say: mealtime! This guy LOVES food and treats — it’s definitely the way to his heart. His food motivation makes him super easy to train, too! He’s already mastered sit, stay, come, kennel up, load up, wait, down, place, and even crawl. We’re still working on “drop it” and “leave it”... but, you know, when snacks are involved, he sometimes pretends not to hear us. Kobe has a nice balance of energy — he’s always down to play and have some fun, but he doesn’t need hours of exercise every day. He’s kennel trained (though accidents happen now and then), housebroken, and rides in the car like a pro. He also walks beautifully on leash and loves chasing squirrels in the backyard. In fact, he’s got some serious hops! He can jump almost as high as his foster’s 6-foot fence — not to escape, just to make sure that sneaky squirrel gets the message. Bath time? No problem! Kobe handles it like a champ. Now, every dog has their quirks, right? Kobe’s challenge is the vet. Because of some rough experiences in his past, he’s very fearful of being handled by vets and needs heavy sedation for any hands-on care. He’ll happily walk into the office, get on the scale, and even greet everyone — but the moment he thinks something’s coming toward him, his fear takes over. He’s also made huge progress with resource guarding — something he’s been working through beautifully with his foster family. Whether it’s because he’s learned to trust them or he’s truly relaxing, it’s hard to say, but he’s doing so much better! Building trust
