The days leading up to the dreaded 4th of July holiday are dangerous for dogs that have been in overcrowded shelters for any length of time. Add to that, a dog with visible wounds on his left rear leg. As with many dogs these days, he didn't have a collar, tag or microchip and no one ever came looking for him. We knew he would not survive the holiday due to a high influx of dogs coming in, so we went to grab him. Oliver came into the San Bernardino shelter as a stray on June 6th. Oliver was found abandoned in a park tied to a tree. The finder kept him for three days while looking for his owner. The finder stated he was good with his kids and cat. Now that he’s been with us a few days, we’re learning how smart he is!! Oliver knows sit, shake and down!! He’s quickly become a volunteer favorite! The shelter staff said Oliver is a very sweet and friendly dog. Oliver has been kenneled with other dogs during his stay and has been great with them all.
