Calista* is waiting for you at Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter in Santa Cruz, CA 95062. Meet Calista, the five month old female Doberman mix. Calista came to the Shelter after her previous guardian was moving and they were unable to take their dogs with them. Calisa came in with her brother (who has since been adopted). In her previous home, she lived with a 5 year old child (who she did great with) as well as german shepherd and border collie type dogs. Calista is still very much a puppy and will need an adopter who is ready to work on all things puppy – potty training, chewing, and leash training. A patient adopter with time and resources to devote to Calista as she bonds with her new family and learns through positive reinforcement based training would be great. A home with a canine companion may be a fit after a meet and greet at the Shelter. Calisa is available for preadoption. Come meet her, fall in love and pick her up after her spay surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
