Heidi* is waiting for you at Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter in Santa Cruz, CA 95062. Meet Heidi, the 2 year old shepherd mix. This beautiful and fluffy girl was found in the woods with her 12(!) puppies and was quickly brought to us. For weeks she has been such a good mom and has been making sure all her puppies are happy and healthy. Now it’s her turn to be taken care of! Heidi is such a sweetheart who loves attention and treats. She can be slightly wary of some new people at first, but after a little introduction time, she is really people oriented and eager to please. She is less interested in dogs, but is polite around them. She'll need a loving home that can provide her with all the attention she wants and needs while introducing her to life and home skills slowly and with positive reinforcement training. Heidi would love to find her furever family and we know she will love them as much as she has loved her puppies and all of our staff. Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals
