She came to us through Animal Control after a court‑ordered surrender, a shy little Husky who had never truly known safety or stability. She underwent FHO surgery to repair her hip, and with time, gentle handling, and physical therapy, she has healed beautifully. What she needed most wasn’t just medical care — it was a quiet place to decompress and a foster home willing to let her move at her own pace. That’s where Heidi finally began to bloom. Heidi is completely housebroken, crate trained , and prefers having a fenced yard where she can explore safely. She is extremely timid and easily startled by noise, fast movement, or unfamiliar environments, but she is also deeply curious . With calm guidance, she will venture out, sniff the world, and take in new experiences. She greets her foster’s much larger dog with gentle sniffs and sits quietly beside him outside — she does best with calm, patient canine companions who won’t overwhelm her. Inside the home, Heidi has made slow but meaningful progress. She used to eat only behind a closed door; now she’ll eat with the door open and occasionally accept treats with her foster nearby. She prefers to control her environment — she may resist going outside or hide in small spaces — but these behaviors soften as she feels safe. She has no resource guarding , but she would not do well with loud or boisterous children. Heidi’s personality reveals itself in tiny, heart‑melting moments: a shy nose bump, a head tilt, the gentle way she places her head in your lap, or the way she offers her leg for a mini belly rub. She secretly loves ear scratches, finds comfort in calm voices, and will even settle when watching dog videos on YouTube. Outside, she needs 1.5–2 hours daily , following her foster arou
