Come meet Lemuel and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (05/03) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria, VA (3351 Richmond Highway Alexandria, VA 22305)! Name: Lemuel Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd/heeler mix Best Guess for Age: 11 months as of April 2026 SEX: Male Estimated Weight (he is still growing): 40 pounds as of March 2026 Gets Along With: Other dogs! We have tested him with one of our volunteer's cats in their home, and he did not seem particularly interested in chasing or pouncing on the cat. While this is a positive sign that Lemuel could live with a cat, he has not done so to our knowledge. He has not lived with kids to our knowledge, but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home. Special Adoption Considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. Because Lemuel is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog to show him the ropes. Lemuel is Looking For: Hiya! I'm Lemuel!
