Special Adoption Considerations: In certain home settings -- where the environment might be loud or more intense -- this dog would do better with another dog in the home to give her confidence. Currently Living at: DC area foster home Northern Star is Looking For: Her home on Earth, where she gets long sniffy walks and romps in parks and all the adventures her humans can dream up! See, being a guiding light for so long was nice and all that but outer space is so cold and can be boring at times. So now she's all about making pup and people pals, snuggles with her humans after a fun day together, quality kibble, a cushy dog bed... you get it! What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has spent time in foster care. Special adoption considerations: Northern Star is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Northern Star has co
