Pet Description: Keller is Yellow Lab mix, one-year-old as of the end of Apr '26, male, 84 lbs (yes needs to lose weight) so a big, wonderful fella. Keller is a wonderful boy with many significant special needs. He is DEAF, bas balance issues likely from some Cerebellar ataxia though has improved dramatically since a puppy**, AND, has some genetic malformation issues primarily in his elbows, that causes him to limp. Those issues are not something that can be 'fixed,' and he will need to be maintained on joint supplements and likely some pain meds for life. He will also likely develop arthritis in those joints as he ages and being a BIG boy, that will probably happen more in mid-age vs old-age. Keller does not know he is special needs as he is one big happy fella. He is in a foster home and doing wonderfully. He plays with other dogs big and little, loves attention, is happy, eats fine, has learned about crating, loves attention is and is just a very sweet boy that loves to play and get love. He also loves water much to the chagrin of his foster mom when he picks up the bowl and slings water everywhere so be aware. He is NOT a yard dog and must be part of his family, inside with them, outside with them but not outside left alone. The only reason we say no to cats is because Keller is quite 'mouthy' and he likes to try and play with the cat (with his mouth) and, since he cannot hear, does not realize he is being a bit too rough. Same with little bitty dogs likely. But Keller LOVES them all - just doesn't quite understand that he can be a bit much! Keller has to be guided to walk on a leash as you in front of him coaxing him since he cannot hear. Of course he can probably learn more but he will flop down and call it complete quits if
